Tue Dec 17 09:10:28 UTC 2024: **Afghanistan Wicketkeeper Gurbaz Ruled Out of Zimbabwe ODI Series Due to Injury**
Harare, Zimbabwe – Afghanistan will be without star wicketkeeper Rahmanullah Gurbaz for their upcoming three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe. The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) announced that Gurbaz has been ruled out due to a Grade 2B quadriceps injury and a bony hip flexor injury. Mohammad Ishaq, a 19-year-old yet to debut in ODIs, has been named as his replacement.
The ACB also confirmed that star spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman will miss the series to allow for proper recovery.
The news is a significant blow to Afghanistan’s chances in the series, which begins December 17th in Harare. Ishaq, who has five T20I appearances under his belt, will be tasked with filling Gurbaz’s considerable shoes. The updated Afghanistan squad includes Ishaq as the designated wicketkeeper.
