Mon Dec 16 17:06:29 UTC 2024: ## MP Urges Centre for Tiruchi Metro Rail Funding and LIC Agent Commission Hike
**Chennai, December 16, 2024** – MDMK MP Durai Vaiko has called on the central government to allocate funds for a Metro Rail project in Tiruchi. Addressing the Lok Sabha, Vaiko noted that a joint committee, including central representatives, has already submitted a feasibility report on the project following its formation by the Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL).
Vaiko also advocated for a significant increase in commission rates paid to Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) agents. He highlighted that the commission hasn’t been adjusted since the LIC’s inception in 1956, despite recommendations from the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDA). He urged the government to raise the overall commission, rather than reducing the initial year’s payout.
Furthermore, Vaiko argued for raising the age limit for LIC policies, citing increased life expectancy. He asserted that the previous reduction of the age limit from 55 to 50 has negatively impacted policy uptake.
