Mon Dec 16 17:40:00 UTC 2024: **Colorado’s Travis Hunter Named AP All-American, Credits Mom and Coach Prime in Heisman Speech**
**Denver, CO –** Colorado Buffaloes star Travis Hunter added another accolade to his already impressive season, earning first-team Associated Press All-American honors at two positions and second-team at another. The announcement comes just days after Hunter received the Heisman Trophy, an award he celebrated by thanking his mother, Coach Deion Sanders (“Coach Prime”), quarterback Shedeur Sanders, and even rapper Lil Wayne.
Hunter’s remarkable versatility made him a standout. He was named a first-team selection at cornerback and all-purpose player, and a second-team receiver. Pro Football Focus statistics reveal the extent of his two-way dominance: Hunter played a total of 1,443 snaps on offense, defense, and special teams throughout the 12-game season.
His offensive contributions were prolific. Hunter finished the regular season among national leaders with 92 catches for 1,152 yards and 14 touchdowns, leading the nation with 21 catches of 20+ yards. Defensively, he made 31 tackles, and his 11 pass breakups and four interceptions also placed him among the nation’s best. A key defensive play included a game-saving forced fumble against Baylor.
Despite his NFL Draft declaration for 2025, Hunter confirmed he will play in Colorado’s Alamo Bowl game against BYU on December 28th.
Other notable All-Americans include Boise State’s Ashton Jeanty, a unanimous first-team selection whose rushing totals rank among the highest in college football history; Notre Dame safety Xavier Watts, a repeat first-team selection with impressive interception numbers; and several other standout players from across the nation, representing 24 different schools. The full list of first-team All-Americans is available in the accompanying AP release.
