**MOSCOW, December 17** – Latvian basketball player Janis Timma, 32, was found dead outside his Moscow apartment building early this morning, according to Russian media outlets Izvestia and Mash. Timma, who played for Zenit St. Petersburg and Khimki Moscow from 2015 to 2021, reportedly died by suicide.
Police reportedly found a phone near his body containing a message intended for his recently divorced wife, singer Anna Sedokova. The phone’s screensaver also reportedly displayed a plea to contact Sedokova. Timma and Sedokova married in 2020 and finalized their divorce this December. Sedokova has publicly stated that the relationship had ended and that she had wanted a separation for some time.
The circumstances surrounding Timma’s death are currently under investigation.
