**Ludhiana, Punjab –** A seven-year-old girl, Amayra, died Monday morning after being crushed by a school bus at BCM School in Sector 32, Ludhiana. The incident occurred on the school premises as the girl was reportedly alighting from a privately-owned bus.
While initial reports suggest Amayra lost her balance and fell under the bus’s wheels, the exact cause of the accident remains under investigation. Police have seized CCTV footage and bus details, and are questioning the driver and conductor.
The tragedy sparked outrage among parents, who alleged that school staff locked the gates after the accident, delaying their access to their children and the scene. Police intervened to calm the protesting parents.
ACP Sumit Sood confirmed the accident occurred within the school grounds and emphasized the ongoing investigation. He confirmed the bus was privately contracted and not owned by the school.
