Mon Dec 16 11:40:00 UTC 2024: ## Tuesday’s Weather Forecast: Mostly Clear Skies in Some Areas, Rain and Snow in Others

SEOUL (Yonhap) — Tuesday, October 17, will see varying weather conditions across South Korea. The Seoul metropolitan area and Gangwon Province will enjoy mostly clear skies, while Chungbuk, and Gyeongsang provinces will experience partly cloudy conditions. Chungnam, Jeolla provinces, and Jeju Island will be mostly cloudy.

Light rain and snow, which began on Monday, will continue in parts of South Chungcheong, North Jeolla, and southwestern inland Gyeongsang provinces until early Tuesday morning, and in the western coastal areas of South Jeolla until Tuesday morning. Additional snow or rain is expected in the western coastal areas of Chungnam and Jeolla provinces starting late Tuesday night. Light snow flurries or rain showers are also possible in southwestern inland Gyeongsang, other parts of Gyeongsangbuk-do, and Jeolla provinces.

Snow accumulation is expected to reach 1-5 cm in Chungcheong provinces, inland North Jeolla, and mountainous areas of Jeju Island; and around 1 cm in northern and southwestern inland Gyeongsangbuk-do and northwestern inland Gyeongsangnam-do. Rainfall is expected to be around 5 mm in southern Gyeonggi and Chungcheong provinces, and less than 5 mm in North Jeolla, western coastal areas of South Jeolla, Ulleungdo and Dokdo. Gangwon’s inland and mountainous areas, northern and southwestern inland Gyeongsangbuk-do, and northwestern inland Gyeongsangnam-do will see around 1 mm of rain.

Temperatures will range from a low of -9 to 3 degrees Celsius and a high of 1 to 10 degrees Celsius. Air quality will be good to moderate nationwide. Strong winds, with gusts up to 55 km/h, are expected in Gangwon’s eastern coastal region and Gyeongsang provinces. Wave heights will range from 0.5 to 2.0 meters in the East and West Seas, and 0.5 to 1.0 meters in the South Sea.
