On Monday, she was seen in Parliament carrying a handbag adorned with the word “Palestine” and Palestinian symbols, including a watermelon – a symbol of Palestinian unity.

Ms. Vadra has been a vocal critic of Israel’s actions. In June, she condemned what she termed the Israeli government’s “genocidal actions” in Gaza, accusing them of “barbarism.” This statement followed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech to the US Congress defending Israel’s actions in Gaza. She asserted that it is the moral responsibility of every right-thinking person and government worldwide to condemn and halt Israel’s actions.
Her display of support has drawn criticism from BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra, who accused her of “pro-Palestine posturing” and claimed that the Gandhi family has historically prioritized appeasement over patriotism.
