**MEMPHIS, TN –** Memphis Grizzlies rookie center Zach Edey is nearing a return to the court after suffering an ankle sprain on November 17th, according to head coach Taylor Jenkins. Edey, who is averaging 11.1 points and 6.9 rebounds in 14 games this season, participated in a higher-intensity practice on Wednesday.
Jenkins indicated that Edey will likely participate in contact drills in the coming days, potentially a full practice scrimmage on Friday. The team will then assess his readiness for game action. While there was initial hope for a return last weekend, the Grizzlies ultimately decided against it after a practice with their G League affiliate.
The 7-foot-4 center’s return could come as soon as Friday night when the Grizzlies face the Brooklyn Nets at FedExForum. His presence would be a significant boost for Memphis.
