Sat Dec 14 16:30:00 UTC 2024: ## Varun Dhawan Opens Up About ‘Bawaal’ Remake ‘Baby John,’ Addressing Societal Issues and Fatherhood

**Mumbai, India** – Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan recently made headlines at the “Agenda Aaj Tak 2024” event, where he discussed his upcoming film, “Baby John,” a remake of Atlee’s South Indian film “Theri.” Dhawan revealed that the film tackles sensitive issues such as child trafficking, referencing the Hathras and Nirbhaya rape cases. While acknowledging the film’s commercial aspects, he emphasized its aim to address women’s safety concerns in a gripping narrative.

Dhawan explained that he initially hesitated to take on a remake, but Atlee’s vision to revisit the themes in light of recent events convinced him. The actor also shared his journey from portraying soft, romantic roles to taking on intense action sequences in “Baby John,” crediting Atlee for recognizing his potential to portray a character with underlying vulnerabilities and powerful emotions when his family is threatened. He related this to his experience of becoming a father during filming, allowing him to connect with the father-daughter dynamic portrayed in the movie.

The actor compared Bollywood and Tollywood action styles, noting that South Indian filmmakers often depict societal realities more directly. He also discussed taking an unofficial break from the “chocolaty” roles typically offered to him, actively seeking more challenging and action-oriented roles. He credited his dance moves to the influence of Govinda, explaining that observing Govinda’s confident public performances inspired his own comfort and ease on stage.

Dhawan also revealed his regret at not spending enough time with his daughter, sharing an emotional anecdote about missing her first solid food milestones. He admitted to struggling to balance his work life with fatherhood, questioning his priorities despite his dedication to providing for his family.

The event also saw a lighthearted moment where Dhawan, upon receiving a challenge involving inflating balloons, impressed everyone present, including doctors who were in the audience, leading to a discussion about lung health and advice on maintaining the well-being of senior citizens. Dhawan revealed his mother suffers from bronchitis, prompting his questions about maintaining lung and heart health for older family members.

“Baby John,” featuring Dhawan as DCP Satya Sharma, is slated for release on Christmas Day, December 25th. The film marks Dhawan’s return to the big screen after his appearance in the web series “Citadel: Honey Bunny.”
