**Durban, South Africa:** Pakistan lost the first T20I against South Africa by 11 runs despite a stellar performance by their star pacer, Shaheen Afridi. South Africa posted a challenging 183/9, a total Pakistan fell short of, managing only 172/8 in response.
Afridi’s exceptional bowling performance stole the spotlight. He claimed three crucial wickets – Quinton de Kock (0), David Miller (82), and Nkrumah Bonner (3) – for just 22 runs in his four-over spell. This achievement marked Afridi’s 100th T20I wicket, a remarkable feat making him only the fourth bowler globally to reach this milestone across all three international formats (Test, ODI, and T20I). He joins an elite club including Lasith Malinga (Sri Lanka), Tim Southee (New Zealand), and Shakib Al Hasan (Bangladesh).
