**JOHANNESBURG, Dec 12 (UNI)** – South Africa has announced a strong 15-member squad for their upcoming One Day International (ODI) series against Pakistan, featuring the exciting debut of 18-year-old Kwena Maphaka. Maphaka, the Player of the Tournament at the ICC Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup, impressed with 21 wickets at an average of 9.71. His inclusion is one of several key highlights.

The squad also sees the welcome return of several veterans. Kagiso Rabada rejoins the ODI team for the first time since the 2023 Cricket World Cup, alongside David Miller and Heinrich Klaasen, both returning after a break since December 2023. Other notable players include Ottneil Baartman, Marco Jansen, and Andile Phehlukwayo.

South Africa’s white-ball coach, Rob Walter, expressed his confidence in the team’s strength and versatility, stating that each player has the potential to be a match-winner. He emphasized that the series will be crucial in preparing for next year’s ICC Champions Trophy. The only notable absentee is Anrich Nortje, ruled out due to a toe injury.

The series begins on December 17th in Paarl, followed by matches in Cape Town (December 19th) and Johannesburg (December 22nd).
