Fri Dec 13 20:57:24 UTC 2024: ## Bihar’s Jan Suraaj Party Leader Prashant Kishor Supports Simultaneous Elections, Faces Criticism

**PATNA, Bihar (December 13, 2024)** – Prashant Kishor, leader of Bihar’s Jan Suraaj Party and a prominent former election strategist, has voiced his support for simultaneous elections in India, while cautioning against hasty implementation. Kishor, speaking to the media in Muzaffarpur, stated that while holding Lok Sabha and State Assembly elections concurrently, a practice common until the 1960s, could be beneficial, a smooth transition is crucial. He emphasized the need to avoid a rushed approach.

Kishor highlighted the significant portion of the nation continually engaged in elections throughout the year. He also commented on recent legislative attempts targeting specific communities, suggesting their success hinges heavily on public perception of the central government’s intentions.

His newly formed Jan Suraaj Party, launched in October, recently competed in four Bihar Assembly by-elections but failed to win any seats. Despite this setback, Kishor remains optimistic, announcing plans for his party to contest all 243 seats in the upcoming 2025 Assembly elections. He is currently undertaking a padyatra across the state.

Kishor’s previous work includes managing election campaigns for prominent figures such as Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several other chief ministers. However, he remarked that the political landscape has changed significantly since then.

His ambitious claims ahead of the by-elections have drawn criticism from the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA), which won all the contested seats. JD(U) spokesperson Neeraj Kumar predicted the Jan Suraaj Party’s failure in the 2025 elections, suggesting Kishor might return to his career as an election strategist.
