Sat Dec 14 01:50:00 UTC 2024: ## Tollywood Star Allu Arjun Arrested, Then Granted Bail in Stampede Case

**Hyderabad, India –** A whirlwind of events unfolded Friday surrounding Tollywood actor Allu Arjun’s arrest and subsequent bail in connection with a fatal stampede at the Sandhya Theater in Hyderabad. The incident occurred on April 4th during a screening of the film *Pushpa-2*, resulting in the death of one woman.

Allu Arjun was arrested Friday morning as an accused (A-11) in the case and remanded to Chanchalguda Jail for 14 days by the Nampally court. However, the High Court granted him interim bail later that evening. While the order came through at 10:30 PM, the necessary paperwork prevented his immediate release, with authorities indicating his release would occur Saturday morning. The theater owners also received interim bail. The court cited precedents like the Arnab Goswami and Bhajanlal cases in justifying its decision, also taking into account a request from the theater management for security arrangements due to the actor’s impending arrival. The court emphasized that the investigation can continue and that the petitioners shouldn’t interfere and must cooperate with the police.

Police reported that they had attempted to arrest Arjun on Thursday but he was out of state. His arrest took place at his residence Friday morning, with some reported tension between the actor and police regarding the manner of his apprehension. His family was present during the arrest.

The stampede occurred when a large crowd gathered to see Allu Arjun at the theater. The victim, identified as Revati, died after being trampled. Her husband, Bhaskar, stated that he took his wife and son to the theater; he reported the incident to police, citing negligence by the theater management and security personnel as contributing factors. He later indicated he will withdraw the case and expressed that Arjun is not to blame. Seven individuals have been arrested to date.
