Fri Dec 13 10:03:39 UTC 2024: ## Telangana Politicians Clash Over Actor Allu Arjun’s Arrest Following Stampede

**Hyderabad, December 13, 2024** – The arrest of Tollywood star Allu Arjun following a stampede at a *Pushpa 2: The Rule* screening has sparked a political firestorm in Telangana. While police cite the actor’s unscheduled appearance as contributing to the incident that resulted in one death and injuries, opposition leaders have condemned his arrest.

BRS leader KT Rama Rao (KTR) slammed the ruling Congress government, calling Allu Arjun’s arrest “the pinnacle of insecurity of the rulers.” KTR, while expressing sympathy for the stampede victims, argued that the actor was not directly responsible and should not be treated as a common criminal. He criticized the government’s handling of the situation on X (formerly Twitter).

BJP MLA Thakur (Tiger) Raja Singh echoed KTR’s sentiments, blaming the police’s failure in crowd management rather than Allu Arjun. He demanded accountability be placed where it belongs – with those responsible for public safety.

However, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy rejected the accusations, stating that neither he nor his government played any role in the arrest, adding that “all are equal before the law.”

The stampede occurred last week outside a Hyderabad theater showing *Pushpa 2*. Allu Arjun made an unscheduled appearance, causing a surge in the crowd. Police reported that the theater management did not provide separate entry or exit points despite knowing of the actor’s visit. The resulting chaos led to a 35-year-old woman being suffocated and killed.

Allu Arjun was questioned at the Chikkadpally Police Station before filing a petition to delay his arrest until Monday. The incident continues to fuel political tensions in the state, with the opposition parties utilizing it to criticize the Congress government’s handling of law and order.
