Fri Dec 13 07:05:26 UTC 2024: **Bangalore Literature Festival to Feature Nobel Laureates, International Diplomats, and Diverse Voices**

BENGALURU, INDIA – December 13, 2024 – The 13th annual Bangalore Literature Festival (BLF), a two-day event taking place December 14-15 at Hotel LaLiT Ashok, promises a diverse and engaging program. Over 350 authors and speakers from India and around the globe will participate, spanning various genres, languages, and topics.

This year’s festival features a unique segment involving three ambassadors: David Puig (Dominican Republic), Juan Antonio March (Spain), and Philip Green (Australia). Organizers highlight the rarity of such international diplomatic engagement in Bengaluru, hoping to offer attendees a unique perspective.

The lineup includes Nobel laureates Abhijit Banerjee (featured for his cookbook) and Venki Ramakrishnan (discussing his book on longevity). Other notable speakers include science writers Simon Singh and Anil Ananthaswamy, science fiction author Lavanya Lakshminarayan, and a strong representation of Kannada and Malayalam authors, alongside Gujarati and Oriya writers. The festival also emphasizes translated works to increase accessibility of Indian literature.

A notable theme this year is the focus on science and science writing, reflecting Bengaluru’s strong presence in research and technology. The program also includes speakers from the business, finance, education, and cricket worlds, as well as social development figures like R Balasubramaniam, Aruna Roy, and Jack Sim.

The Queer Caravan, a collaboration with The Queer Muslim Project, will feature LGBTQIA+ storytellers and artists from France, Germany, and India. The festival will also maintain its popular LitMart and ScreenLit sections for aspiring authors and screenwriters, a dedicated children’s section, and cultural performances. Free shuttle buses will run from Vidhan Soudha metro station, and parking will be available at Prestige Trade Tower. Entry is free, but registration is recommended via http://www.blrlitfest.org.
