Fri Dec 13 07:45:55 UTC 2024: ## Mumbai Storms into Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Final
**Bengaluru:** Mumbai secured their place in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy final after a convincing six-wicket victory over Baroda in a thrilling semi-final clash at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Friday. Star-studded Mumbai, boasting players like Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dube, Ajinkya Rahane, Prithvi Shaw, Shardul Thakur, and Krunal Pandya, dominated the match.
Ajinkya Rahane led Mumbai’s chase with a magnificent 98-run knock, receiving excellent support from captain Shreyas Iyer, who contributed 46 runs. Mumbai won the toss and elected to field first, a decision that proved shrewd as their bowlers restricted Baroda to a modest 158/7 in their allotted 20 overs.
Baroda’s innings saw contributions from Krunal Pandya (30) and Shaswat Rawat (33), but they lost wickets at regular intervals after a promising start. Hardik Pandya’s failure to deliver a significant score (5 runs) proved a turning point. Shivalik Sharma (36) and Atit Seth (22) added a late flourish for Baroda. Suryansh Shedge was Mumbai’s most successful bowler, claiming two wickets.
Chasing 159, Mumbai comfortably reached the target, setting up a final showdown against the winner of the other semi-final between Madhya Pradesh and Delhi.
