**Bengaluru:** Mumbai has secured a spot in the final of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy after a convincing six-wicket victory over Baroda in the first semi-final on Friday. Winning the toss and opting to bowl, Mumbai restricted Baroda to 158/7 in their 20 overs. Ajinkya Rahane’s stunning 98 off 56 balls, earning him the Player of the Match award, spearheaded Mumbai’s successful chase of 159, achieved in 17.2 overs with four wickets remaining. Shivalik Sharma top-scored for Baroda with an unbeaten 36.

Mumbai’s innings started tentatively, losing Prithvi Shaw early. However, a crucial 88-run partnership between Rahane and captain Shreyas Iyer steadied the ship, before Iyer’s dismissal. Rahane and Suryakumar Yadav then guided Mumbai home.

The second semi-final between Delhi and Madhya Pradesh is scheduled for later today in Bengaluru. Delhi and Madhya Pradesh qualified after defeating Uttar Pradesh and Saurashtra respectively in earlier matches. Mumbai’s earlier victories against Vidarbha and their strong semi-final performance solidify their position as a formidable contender for the title. Captain Shreyas Iyer attributed Mumbai’s success to their effective bowling strategy.
