Fri Dec 13 08:03:07 UTC 2024: ## Bengaluru AI Engineer’s Suicide: Wife, In-Laws Accused, Police Investigate

**Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh, India:** The suicide of 34-year-old Atul Subhash, a Bengaluru-based AI engineer, has sparked a major investigation. Subhash, before taking his own life, left behind a 24-page suicide note and an 81-minute video detailing alleged harassment and torture by his wife, Nikita Singhania, and her family.

In his note and video, Subhash accused his wife, her mother Nisha Singhania, brother Anurag, and uncle Sushil (all residents of Jaunpur) of dowry harassment, threats, and abetment to suicide. He claimed to have filed nine cases against them.

Following Subhash’s death, a team of Bengaluru police officers, led by Sub-Inspector Ranjit Kumar, arrived in Jaunpur on Thursday to investigate the allegations. Adding to the intrigue, Nikita Singhania’s mother and brother were reportedly seen fleeing their home late Wednesday night, locking it behind them. A video surfaced showing Nisha Singhania evading media questions while pleading with reporters.

Reports indicate that after leaving their home, Nisha and Anurag briefly stayed at a private hotel, where they were seen visibly distressed. CCTV footage of their arrival at the hotel has also emerged. Nisha Singhania, in a previous interview with Aaj Tak, denied all accusations, claiming they were baseless and that Subhash had unjustly targeted her family.

The investigation is ongoing, with the police currently focused on gathering evidence and questioning those named in Subhash’s suicide note and video. The case has highlighted concerns regarding dowry harassment and the need for stronger legal protections for victims.
