**Hyderabad, December 10, 2024** – BRS leader K. Kavitha has accused the Congress government in Telangana of attempting to erase the state’s culture and heritage. Her protest centers on a newly installed statue of Telangana Talli (Mother Telangana) at the Secretariat, which omits the traditional Bathukamma flower arrangement.
Kavitha, performing a puja at the BRS party office, criticized the new statue’s design, calling it a disrespectful depiction of Telangana’s cultural identity. She alleged that replacing Bathukamma with what she implied was a subtle representation of the Congress’s hand symbol constitutes an insult to the people and their traditions.
The BRS leader also contrasted the government’s swift action in installing the new statue with its perceived slow progress on election promises, specifically mentioning the delayed implementation of a ₹2,500 monthly assistance for women and a salary increase for ASHA workers to ₹18,000. She questioned the exclusion of prominent Telangana women from recent government honors.
Kavitha demanded the government fulfill its promises to ASHA workers, increasing their monthly salary to ₹18,000. She reiterated her party’s belief that the new Telangana Talli statue is an unacceptable alteration of a cherished symbol.
