Mon Dec 09 19:18:21 UTC 2024: ## Sisodia Vacates Delhi Assembly Seat, Sparking Political Row

**New Delhi, December 10, 2024** – Former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has vacated his Patparganj Assembly seat, triggering a political storm. Sisodia, citing inspiration from Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) newcomer and educationist Avadh Ojha’s vision, voluntarily relinquished the seat in favor of Ojha. However, opposition parties, BJP and Congress, claim the move reflects AAP’s fear of defeat in Patparganj after Sisodia’s significantly reduced victory margin in the 2020 Assembly elections.

While Sisodia won by substantial margins in 2013 and 2015, his 2020 victory was by a mere 3,000 votes. Further fueling the opposition’s claims is the poor performance of AAP’s East Delhi candidate in the recent Lok Sabha elections.

The BJP criticized Sisodia’s tenure, highlighting neglected infrastructure, poor park maintenance, and a severe water crisis in Patparganj. They accused AAP of failing to deliver on promises regarding schools and Mohalla Clinics. The Delhi Congress echoed these sentiments, alleging the constituency was neglected despite Sisodia holding numerous portfolios before his arrest and imprisonment in connection with the Delhi excise policy case. AAP, however, maintains that Sisodia offered the seat to Ojha willingly.
