**NEW DELHI** – Hindus will observe Mokshada Ekadashi, a significant religious festival, on December 11th, 2024. Falling on the Shukla Paksha Ekadashi of the Margashirsha month, this day holds special significance within the Sanātana Dharma tradition. Dedicated to Lord Vishnu, the fast is believed to grant devotees’ wishes and offer spiritual benefits.
Devotees are encouraged to perform several rituals, including chanting Vishnu mantras with a Tulsi mala and performing an abhisheka (ritual bath) with saffron-infused milk. Worship of the banana tree, considered a dwelling place of Lord Vishnu, is also recommended, particularly beneficial for those with a weak Jupiter influence in their astrological chart.
Donating yellow-colored items, such as clothes, fruits, and sweets, to Brahmins is another significant aspect of the observance. This act is believed to fulfill desires and pave the way for moksha (liberation).
A unique remedy involves writing “Shrim” (a bija mantra for Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth) on a betel leaf with saffron and offering it to Lord Vishnu.
