**Dubai, UAE** – A significant increase in Dubai visa rejections for Indian travelers is causing widespread concern and financial hardship. Following the implementation of stricter visa requirements by the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the approval rate has plummeted from nearly 100% to as low as 94-95%, according to multiple travel agencies in India.
The new rules, introduced by Dubai’s emigration department, mandate applicants to provide hotel booking confirmations with QR codes, return flight tickets, and, for those staying with relatives, additional proof of accommodation. Applicants must also demonstrate sufficient funds, requiring at least AED 5,000 (approximately Rs 1.14 lakh) for a two-month visa and AED 3,000 for a three-month visa. Previously, these documents were only requested upon arrival.
Travel agents report a dramatic rise in rejections, with some seeing 5-6 out of every 100 applications denied daily. This is a sharp contrast to the near-perfect approval rate seen before the stricter rules were implemented. Even applications with meticulously prepared documentation, including confirmed flights and hotel bookings, are being rejected, leading to significant financial losses for applicants who have already purchased non-refundable flights and hotel accommodations.
Several travel agency directors interviewed by the Times of India shared anecdotal accounts of rejected applications, highlighting the unpredictability of the new system and the resulting financial burden on affected travelers. One instance cited involved a family of four whose application was rejected despite submitting all required documents, incurring substantial losses on visa fees and flight cancellations.
The increased rejection rate has created uncertainty and frustration among Indian travelers planning trips to Dubai, underscoring the need for clarity and consistency in the application process.
