HOUSTON (December 9, 2024) – A dense fog advisory is in effect for the Houston area until 6 a.m. Tuesday, with the thickest fog expected south of Interstate 10. A cold front moving through overnight will drop temperatures from the 60s to the 50s Tuesday morning, with areas north and west of Houston experiencing the coldest temperatures, dipping into the upper 40s. Houston itself will see lows in the mid-50s.
Patchy fog is possible near the coast Tuesday morning, otherwise expect a mix of sun and clouds with highs in the lower 60s and a chilly north wind of 10-20 mph, gusting up to 30 mph. A significant temperature swing is expected, with lows plummeting into the 30s by Wednesday, potentially nearing freezing in northwest areas. Residents are urged to prepare for the cold.
Rain chances increase Friday afternoon, with slightly higher probabilities on Saturday, though any precipitation is expected to be light.
