Tue Dec 10 16:10:42 UTC 2024: ## West Indies Wins Thrilling ODI Against Bangladesh
**BASSETERRE, Saint Kitts and Nevis** – Sherfane Rutherford’s explosive 113 propelled the West Indies to a five-wicket victory over Bangladesh in a thrilling first one-day international on Sunday. The West Indies chased down Bangladesh’s 294-6 with 14 balls to spare, finishing on 295-5.
Rutherford’s innings, which included eight sixes and seven boundaries, was the highlight of the West Indies’ chase. He was eventually caught for 113 in the 47th over, leaving Justin Greaves (41*) to guide the team home. Earlier, Shai Hope contributed a solid 86 for the West Indies.
Bangladesh, who won the toss and elected to bat, posted a competitive total thanks to contributions from captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz (74), Tanzid Hasan (60), Mahmudullah (50*), and Jaker Ali (48). Romario Shepherd took 3-51 for the West Indies.
The second and third ODIs in the three-match series will be played at the same venue on Tuesday and Thursday respectively. This victory comes after Bangladesh’s historic Test win in the Caribbean earlier this year.
