Tue Dec 10 14:38:39 UTC 2024: ## Guruvayur Temple Celebrates Ekadasi with Music and Remembrance
**GURUVAYUR, KERALA** – The famed Sreekrishna Temple in Guruvayur is gearing up for its annual Ekadasi festival on Wednesday, December 11th, expecting tens of thousands of devotees. Preparations are underway for the massive prasada oottu (community feast).
The festivities began on Tuesday with a moving pancharatna keerthanalapanam (mass rendition of Tyagaraja’s compositions) at the Melpathur auditorium, drawing a large crowd who participated in the harmonious singing.
Also on Tuesday, the Guruvayur Devaswom held a commemoration ceremony for the legendary elephant Guruvayur Keshavan, observing the anniversary of his death. Following High Court guidelines on elephant parades, a procession featuring several elephants, including Indrasen carrying Keshavan’s portrait, paid tribute at his statue. Devaswom chairman V.K. Vijayan laid a floral wreath. Strict security measures, including ropes to maintain distance between elephants and the public, were implemented.
Tight police security is in place throughout Guruvayur to ensure the smooth conduct of the Ekadasi celebrations.
