**Belagavi:** A monumental 20ft x 10ft oil painting depicting the Anubhava Mantapa, considered the world’s first parliament founded by social reformer Basavanna, was unveiled today at the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah led the ceremony, attended by several dignitaries including Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar and other ministers.
The artwork, a collaborative effort by several renowned artists from across Karnataka, now takes pride of place in the Central Hall of the Suvarna Soudha. The painting aims to showcase the Anubhava Mantapa’s historical significance as a center for social and philosophical discourse, promoting equality and inclusivity regardless of caste or religion. The Mantapa was a platform for influential figures like Akkamahadevi and Madara Chennaiah to share their wisdom.
The unveiling is being seen as a tribute to Basavanna’s legacy and the enduring values of social justice and universal equality championed by the Anubhava Mantapa. The painting is expected to serve as an inspiring reminder of these principles for visitors to the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha.
