**New Orleans, LA** – The New Orleans Saints announced a flurry of roster moves on Saturday, ahead of their Sunday game against the New York Giants. The moves, a mix of activations and releases, reflect the team’s ongoing battle with injuries.
A key addition is the return of running back Kendre Miller, activated from injured reserve for the second time this season. Miller, who suffered a hamstring injury in training camp, will provide much-needed depth in the backfield, with Alvin Kamara carrying a heavy workload and Jamaal Williams seeing limited action.
The Saints also promoted wide receiver Kevin Austin Jr. to the active roster. Austin, who impressed during recent practice squad elevations, offers a much-needed large frame to the receiving corps. Veteran wide receiver Dante Pettis was similarly promoted, having exhausted his practice squad elevations and established himself as the team’s primary return specialist after Rashid Shaheed’s season-ending injury.
However, the roster moves weren’t all positive. Guard Kyle Hergel was waived, a decision made necessary by the return of injured linemen Erik McCoy and Lucas Patrick. Hergel is expected to return to the practice squad. Meanwhile, the team placed offensive lineman Nick Saldiveri on injured reserve after a leg injury suffered last week. His absence is a significant blow, and his recovery time remains uncertain.
Finally, defensive end Tanoh Kpassagnon, recovering from an Achilles injury, will remain on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list for another week, despite participating fully in recent practices. The Saints are cautiously managing his return. The team’s numerous injury-related adjustments highlight the challenges they face in maintaining a competitive roster.
