**Mysuru, December 9, 2024** – A chariot carrying the “Kannada Jyothi” (light of Kannada), symbolising the upcoming 87th Akhila Bharata Kannada Sahitya Sammelana (All India Kannada Literary Conference), was given a warm welcome in Mysuru today. The chariot, which has been touring Karnataka to promote the event, arrived in Mysuru after traversing the state.

The arrival was marked by a celebratory atmosphere, with pro-Kannada activists, officials, and local residents gathering at the Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple. Traditional Dollu Kunita dancers performed as the chariot, adorned with flowers, was welcomed by dignitaries including Additional Deputy Commissioner P. Shivaraj and Mysuru Sahitya Parishat president Maddigere Gopal.

The three-day literary conference, taking place in Mandya from December 20th, is expected to draw nearly 300,000 attendees from across Karnataka and neighboring states. This will be the first time the conference is held in Mandya in almost 30 years. Extensive arrangements are underway to accommodate the large-scale event.

After its stop in Mysuru, the Kannada Jyothi will continue its journey to Mandya, traveling through Bannur and Yachenahalli before reaching the conference venue. The chariot’s tour aimed to inform the public about the conference and encourage participation. Local officials were instructed to ensure the chariot’s safe passage and welcome it in each taluk.
