BENGALURU, INDIA (December 9, 2024) – The National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA) in Bengaluru has launched “Art Detective Cards,” an innovative interactive tool designed to make art more accessible and engaging for children. Developed in collaboration with the Rereeti Foundation, the cards transform a museum visit into a treasure hunt, encouraging children aged 6-10 to explore the gallery’s permanent collection, particularly its sculptures.

Available in English, Kannada, and Hindi, the cards offer age-appropriate clues and tasks. Children borrow the cards for a small deposit, solve the puzzles, and receive a sticker set upon completion. The initiative aims to counter the perception of art as an elite pursuit, fostering a love of art from a young age.

NGMA Director Priyanka Mary Francis explained that the cards build upon a similar program from 2009, adapted to the gallery’s current permanent collection. The collaboration with the Rereeti Foundation ensured a community-focused and professionally designed approach. The program is designed to be sustainable and will be expanded to include new cards for future exhibitions. The Art Detective Cards are currently available at NGMA Bengaluru.
