Mon Dec 09 06:49:37 UTC 2024: ## Supreme Court to Hear Manish Sisodia’s Bail Plea

**New Delhi, December 9, 2024** – The Supreme Court will hear Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia’s plea to relax his bail conditions on December 11. Sisodia, facing corruption and money laundering charges related to the Delhi excise policy, is currently required to report to investigating officers twice a week.

His lawyer, Senior Advocate Abhishek Singhvi, argued before the court on Monday. The court agreed to expedite the hearing, acknowledging Sisodia’s claim of having already reported to investigators 60 times since his release on bail in August.

The Supreme Court granted Sisodia bail on August 9th, citing his 17-month pre-trial incarceration as a violation of his right to a speedy trial. While granting bail, the court imposed conditions including weekly reporting to investigators. This decision overturned a Delhi High Court ruling that denied Sisodia bail. The CBI and ED had opposed his bail applications.

Sisodia was arrested by both the CBI and ED in February and March 2023, respectively, and subsequently resigned from his post as Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister. He maintains his innocence. The Supreme Court’s upcoming hearing will determine whether these bail conditions will be altered.
