Mon Dec 09 07:00:00 UTC 2024: ## Modi Launches LIC Bima Sakhi Yojana to Empower Women

**Panipat, Haryana:** Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the LIC Bima Sakhi Yojana on Monday, December 9th, in Panipat, Haryana. This initiative by the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) aims to empower women and promote financial inclusion.

The scheme targets women aged 18-70 who have completed their 10th standard. Selected participants will receive special training and a stipend for three years to enhance their financial literacy and insurance awareness. After completing the training, they will have the opportunity to work as LIC agents, with the potential for advancement to Development Officer roles for graduate participants.

The initial stipend will be ₹7,000 per month, decreasing to ₹6,000 in the second year and ₹5,000 in the third. Additional commissions will be provided based on performance. The first phase of the project aims to provide employment to 35,000 women as insurance agents, with a later expansion to include 50,000 more. PM Modi distributed appointment certificates to the first batch of Bima Sakhis. The scheme is expected to significantly contribute to women’s empowerment and financial independence across the country.
