**New Delhi —** The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) today released its second list of 20 candidates for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections, scheduled for early next year. This brings the total number of announced candidates to 31, leaving 39 seats yet to be filled in the 70-member Assembly.
A significant announcement in the list is the candidature of former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who will contest from Jangpura. Sisodia, currently out on bail after his arrest in a money laundering case related to the scrapped Delhi liquor policy, has stated he will only rejoin the government after the “verdict in the people’s court.” Jangpura, previously held by AAP, has been a party stronghold since 2013.
Another notable candidate is Avadh Ojha, a civil services teacher who recently joined AAP. Ojha will contest from Patparganj, a traditionally safe AAP seat currently held by Sisodia. The party is confident in Ojha’s ability to retain the constituency. The AAP’s strategy in fielding Sisodia from a new constituency and Ojha in a safe seat is expected to be a key factor in the upcoming elections.
