**New Delhi:** The Indian government has appointed Sanjay Malhotra, currently the Revenue Secretary, as the new Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). Malhotra’s appointment follows the completion of Shaktikanta Das’s term on December 10th. His appointment is for a period of three years.
Malhotra is a 1990 batch IAS officer from the Rajasthan cadre. He holds an engineering degree in Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, and a Master’s degree in Public Policy from Princeton University, USA. With over 33 years of experience, he has served in various sectors including power, finance, taxation, information technology, and mining. He previously served as the Secretary of the Financial Services Department under the Ministry of Finance.
