Mon Dec 09 09:08:25 UTC 2024: ## Jewar Airport Conducts First Trial Run Ahead of 2025 Opening

**Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh:** The Jewar International Airport in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, conducted its first trial run on Monday, marking a significant step towards its commercial launch in April 2025. A video of the trial, showing an aircraft taxiing on the runway, has been released.

According to Jewar International Airport Limited (NIAL), the trial run will continue until December 15th. During this period, flight data will be recorded by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to assess the airport’s operational readiness. The airport aims to commence cargo services by April 2025, a key driver for this initial trial. Any identified issues will be addressed before the full operational launch.

The 3.9-kilometer long and 60-meter wide runway is now complete, with only minor finishing works remaining before the airport’s full completion. Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the Noida International Airport (also known as Jewar Airport) in 2021.

Developed by Yamuna International Airport Private Limited (YIAPL), a fully owned subsidiary of Zurich Airport International AG (Switzerland), the 1,334-acre airport is intended to alleviate congestion at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport and meet the growing air travel demand in the National Capital Region (NCR). Upon completion, it is expected to become a major aviation hub in India, boosting regional connectivity, economic growth, and tourism.
