Sun Dec 08 01:10:00 UTC 2024: ## Heavy Rains Predicted for Several Indian States in Next 24 Hours
**New Delhi, December 4, 2024** – The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of heavy rainfall across several states in the next 24 hours due to a low-pressure system forming over the east-central Arabian Sea. The system is expected to move west-northwestward over the next two days, reaching its peak intensity within 24 hours before gradually weakening.
Areas expected to experience rainfall include Kerala, coastal Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, coastal Andhra Pradesh, south Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Lakshadweep, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, south Maharashtra, south Konkan, Goa, Vidarbha, and parts of south Odisha. Maharashtra’s coastal regions are already under a yellow alert following the impact of the Fengal cyclone.
While northern India is experiencing dense fog and a cold wave, southern states are bracing for renewed rainfall. The IMD forecasts generally dry weather for the rest of the week, with a significant cold spell anticipated after December 15th, accompanied by dense fog and a possible increase in snowfall in the Himalayas due to an active western disturbance.
Delhi’s weather is currently clear, with mild chill in the mornings and evenings, and this condition is expected to continue until December 10th. Light to moderate rain and snowfall is predicted for the western Himalayan region between December 7th and 9th, potentially extending to the adjacent plains of northwest India on December 8th. However, no rainfall is forecast for Delhi itself.
