Sun Dec 08 14:40:22 UTC 2024: ## Telangana-Chhattisgarh Border on Edge Ahead of Maoist Bandh
**BHADRADRI KOTHAGUDEM, December 8, 2024** – Tensions remain high along the Telangana-Chhattisgarh border following a recent Maoist encounter and ahead of a state-wide bandh called by the CPI (Maoist) on December 9th. Police have increased their presence in the Left-Wing Extremism (LWE) affected areas of Bhadradri Kothagudem and Mulugu districts.
The bandh is in protest of a December 1st encounter in the Chalpaka forest area, where seven Maoists, including Telangana State committee member Kursam Mangu alias Badru, were killed. While the CPI (Maoist)’s People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) week concluded on December 8th, villages near the border remain tense.
As a precaution, the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) has temporarily suspended bus services to several interior areas in Wazeedu and Venkatapuram mandals, with night services suspended for the past week. The situation continues to be closely monitored.
