Sat Dec 07 05:08:41 UTC 2024: ## Siraj Strikes Early, Dismissing Renshaw in India’s Warm-up Match
**Canberra, Australia – December 1, 2024** – Mohammed Siraj made an early impact in India’s practice match against the Prime Minister’s XI in Canberra, dismissing Australian opener Matt Renshaw in the second day’s play. The match, reduced to 50 overs a side due to rain on the first day, saw India win the toss and elect to bowl.
Siraj, opening the bowling, immediately put pressure on Renshaw, displaying visible frustration with the batsman’s actions in the first over. This tension escalated as the over progressed, with Siraj denying Renshaw any scoring opportunities in the final two deliveries. Ultimately, Renshaw’s innings ended on a meager 5 runs, caught by Devdutt Padikkal at second slip off Siraj’s bowling in the 16th ball he faced.
The wicket, achieved in just 4.5 overs, put the Prime Minister’s XI on the back foot at 12/1. While Jaden Goodwin managed a boundary in the following over, further play was interrupted by rain after just three balls of Akash Deep’s over, resulting in a reduction of overs to 46 each.
Resuming play, Sam Constsas impressed with a century before being dismissed, while India’s bowlers continued to take wickets. Harshith Rana took 4 wickets, Akash Deep 2, and Siraj and Prasidh Krishna took one each. At the time of writing, the PMXI had reached 209/8 in 39 overs.
The warm-up match serves as preparation for the highly anticipated first pink-ball Test between India and Australia, starting December 6th in Adelaide. Siraj’s early success against Renshaw is an encouraging sign for the Indian team heading into the crucial series.
