Fri Dec 06 16:46:20 UTC 2024: **BJP Accuses US State Department, OCCRP of Targeting Modi, Destabilizing India**

NEW DELHI, December 6, 2024 – The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched a scathing attack on Thursday, accusing the U.S. State Department and the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP) of conspiring to destabilize India by targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the ruling party. The BJP alleges that the OCCRP, funded in part by the U.S. State Department’s USAID, provided material used by the Congress party to launch attacks on Modi and disrupt Parliament.

The party cited reports from French investigative media group Mediapart, claiming that the OCCRP receives 50% of its funding directly from the U.S. State Department, with additional support from figures like George Soros and the Rockefeller Foundation. The BJP characterized this as a “Deep State” agenda aimed at damaging Modi’s image and India’s reputation.

The BJP pointed to instances where Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s foreign trips coincided with activities related to these alleged attacks, further strengthening their claims of a coordinated effort. The party highlighted the Adani and Pegasus controversies, asserting that the Congress leveraged information from the OCCRP to target Modi and disrupt parliamentary proceedings. They emphasized the OCCRP’s apparent focus on Adani and its previous similar targeting of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The BJP’s statement alleges a pattern of Congress using materials originating from international sources to attack the government on various issues, including the Pegasus spyware scandal, the Adani Group allegations, and concerns about democracy and religious freedom in India. The party called for an exposure of this alleged coordinated international effort to destabilize India.
