Fri Dec 06 16:49:51 UTC 2024: ## Madurai High Court Orders Notice on Ramanathapuram Postal Service

**Madurai, December 6, 2024** – The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court has issued a notice to postal authorities following a public interest litigation (PIL) demanding a 24-hour Railway Mail Service Office in Ramanathapuram district headquarters.

The PIL, filed by D. Raju, argues that the absence of such a service in Ramanathapuram, unlike other districts, forces residents to rely on private couriers. The current office is located in Paramakudi, causing significant inconvenience. The court will now hear the petition filed by Raju, who seeks a directive to establish a round-the-clock postal service in Ramanathapuram. A division bench comprising Justices M.S. Ramesh and A.D. Maria Clete is overseeing the case.
