RIYADH, Saudi Arabia – The Saudi Pro League (SPL) and LaLiga have formalized their growing partnership with the opening of a dedicated LaLiga workspace within the SPL headquarters in Riyadh. The new office, operational as of December 2nd, will be used by LaLiga and Spanish clubs, marking a significant step in the SPL’s internationalization efforts and its commitment to collaboration within the global football community.

SPL CEO Omar Mugharbel and LaLiga President Javier Tebas were present for the inauguration. Mugharbel highlighted the partnership’s importance in exchanging best practices and driving innovation within the SPL. Tebas emphasized LaLiga’s dedication to supporting the growth of sports and entertainment in Saudi Arabia and expressed confidence in the partnership’s potential for future projects. A LaLiga delegate will be permanently based in Riyadh to further strengthen the collaboration.

This move aligns with LaLiga’s broader international expansion, which already includes a presence in 34 countries via 11 global offices. The partnership underscores the SPL’s ongoing transformation strategy, launched earlier in 2023, aimed at elevating the league to a global standard through talent development, attracting top international players, and improving club governance. The SPL seeks to become one of the world’s leading football leagues, as part of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030.
