**COIMBATORE, December 6, 2024** – Three tribal settlements in the Anamalai Tiger Reserve (ATR) have been granted community forest rights under the Forest Rights Act of 2006, Coimbatore District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati announced Friday. The rights allow the settlements of Nagaroothu I, Nagaroothu II, and Chinnarpathi to collect non-timber forest produce such as mangoes, amla, honey, tamarind, and grass.

In addition, 14 families from the Old Sarkarpathy tribal settlement received individual forest rights for cultivation, based on recommendations from a sub-divisional committee and approval from the district level committee. The rights were formally presented at a function in Coimbatore. This action aims to secure the traditional rights of these tribal communities within the reserve.
