**Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, December 5, 2024** – The Ramalinga Nagar Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC) in Tiruchirappalli has achieved a significant milestone by receiving the prestigious National Quality Assurance Standard (NQAS) certification from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW). This marks the third UPHC in the city to receive this certification.

The centre underwent a rigorous three-stage assessment process, culminating in a recent inspection by a national assessment team. The Ramalinga Nagar UPHC scored a perfect 100% across nine of the 35 certification standards, demonstrating excellence in areas such as affordability of services, hand hygiene, patient satisfaction, and overall quality management.

As a reward for its achievement, the UPHC received a cash prize of ₹3 lakhs. Twenty-five percent of this amount will be used to incentivize healthcare workers, while the remainder will fund new equipment and upgrades.

City Health Officer M. Vijay Chandran highlighted the stringent assessment process, emphasizing the thoroughness of the vetting procedures to maintain high quality standards. He further announced that four more UPHCs are scheduled for assessment in the next six months, with a goal of all 18 UPHCs in Tiruchirappalli achieving NQAS certification within a year.
