Wed Dec 04 16:33:15 UTC 2024: ## Mangaluru Police Book Hindu Group for Blocking Roads During Protest
**Mangaluru, December 4, 2024** – Police in Mangaluru have filed a case against members of the Hindu Hitarakshana Samiti for obstructing traffic during a protest on Wednesday. The group, protesting alleged atrocities against Hindus in Bangladesh, blocked roads near the Clock Tower Circle, causing significant disruption, including the obstruction of an ambulance.
The protest, which began with a procession from Ambedkar Circle, saw demonstrators refusing police requests to clear the road. This led to a two-way traffic slowdown between Clock Tower Circle and Rao and Rao Circle.
The Mangaluru South police station registered a case under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Karnataka Police Act, citing violations of protest conditions and causing hardship to the public.
Communist Party of India (Marxist) district secretary Muneer Katipalla criticized the police, alleging they aided the protesters by allowing the road blockage and failing to address inflammatory speeches made during the demonstration. The police commissioner, Anupam Agrawal, has yet to respond to these accusations.
