Wed Dec 04 18:52:29 UTC 2024: ## Fadnavis to be Sworn in as Maharashtra Chief Minister on December 5th

**Mumbai, India –** Devendra Fadnavis will be sworn in as the next Chief Minister of Maharashtra on December 5th, marking his return to the top post. The announcement came after a meeting of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) core committee, where Fadnavis was unanimously chosen as the leader of the BJP legislative party. The Mahayuti alliance – comprising BJP, the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, and Ajit Pawar’s faction of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) – holds a commanding 230 seats in the 288-member assembly, securing a comfortable majority.

Fadnavis, along with Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, met with Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan to formally stake the alliance’s claim to form the government. Shinde and Pawar are expected to be sworn in as Deputy Chief Ministers. The swearing-in ceremony, to be held at Azad Maidan in Mumbai, will be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other dignitaries.

While Shinde initially expressed satisfaction with the Mahayuti government’s performance over the past two and a half years, some Shiv Sena MLAs publicly urged him to accept the Deputy Chief Minister’s position. Pawar, however, confirmed his participation, stating he wouldn’t wait for a final decision.

The BJP’s strong performance in the recent elections, securing 132 seats, has paved the way for Fadnavis’s return. The alliance’s victory was celebrated by party workers across the state. The new government promises to focus on fulfilling the promises made to the people of Maharashtra. Fadnavis’s election affidavit shows a net worth of approximately ₹5.2 crore, while his wife’s is around ₹7.9 crore.
