Wed Dec 04 18:16:31 UTC 2024: ## Israeli Drones Use Deceptive Sounds to Lure Palestinians into Ambush, Human Rights Groups Allege

**Gaza City, December 2, 2024** – Alarming reports have emerged detailing the alleged use of Israeli quadcopter drones to lure Palestinians out of their homes using recordings of crying babies and distressed women. These sounds, according to witnesses and human rights monitors, are employed to draw individuals into open areas where they can be targeted.

Maha Hussaini, a Euro-Med Human Rights monitor, told Al Jazeera that multiple testimonies from Palestinians in Nuseirat confirm the tactic. Residents reported hearing the sounds and, believing them to be genuine cries for help, ventured outside only to face potential attack. One such case involved Abu Anas Al-Shahrour, who was shot in the head after responding to what he believed to be cries of distress.

These accounts are corroborated by hospital reports and further reinforced by similar incidents across Gaza and the occupied West Bank. Reports include recordings of children crying and threatening messages broadcast in both Hebrew and Arabic.

While Israeli forces have extensively used drones for surveillance and crowd control since the escalation of hostilities on October 7th, the use of deceptive audio is drawing severe condemnation. This tactic, along with the alleged “General’s Plan” aimed at depopulating northern Gaza, has been labeled a war crime by the International Criminal Court (ICC), resulting in an arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The situation in Gaza remains dire. The Health Ministry has reported nearly 45,000 deaths, with the entire population displaced amidst relentless bombardment. Civilians face critical shortages of food, water, and medical supplies, while infrastructure lies in ruins. The potential for widespread disease in overcrowded shelters poses a further threat. This latest allegation adds another layer of concern to the already catastrophic humanitarian crisis unfolding in Gaza.
