Thu Dec 05 14:27:25 UTC 2024: ## BJP Accuses Karnataka CM of Targeting Farmers, Condemns Waqf Board Land Seizures

**Yadgir, Karnataka –** The BJP launched a scathing attack on Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah Thursday, accusing his Congress government of unfairly transferring hundreds of acres of farmland to the Waqf Board in Yadgir district. The accusations were made during the party’s “Namma Bhoomi Namma Hakku” (Our Land, Our Right) campaign rally, led by state BJP president B.Y. Vijayendra.

Vijayendra led a rally through Shahapur, criticizing the Chief Minister for allegedly targeting poor farmers and warned of dire consequences if the government doesn’t reverse the land transfers. He specifically cited the transfer of land to the Waqf Board, causing distress among farmers. He further criticized the Congress government for halting farmer welfare schemes like Bhagyalakshmi and the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, implemented during the previous BJP government. The BJP leader also questioned the government’s timing of distributing funds under the Gruha Laxmi scheme, suggesting it was aimed at garnering votes during recent Lok Sabha elections. He demanded immediate compensation for farmers who lost their red gram crops in drought-affected regions.

Former ministers B. Sriramulu and Narasimha Naik echoed Vijayendra’s concerns, highlighting the plight of farmers facing the threat of land loss. Naik further alleged that the Waqf Board seizures also impacted temple lands. Other BJP leaders, including Byrathi Basavaraj and M.P. Renukacharya, participated in the rally and voiced their support for the farmers. The BJP vowed to continue its fight until the controversial gazette notification transferring the land is withdrawn.
