Hyderabad, December 3, 2024 – Mumbai secured their fourth victory in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy today, defeating Services by 39 runs in a match featuring India’s T20 captain, Suryakumar Yadav.

Batting first, Mumbai posted a challenging 192/4 in their 20 overs, thanks to half-centuries from Shivam Dube (71 off 37 balls, including 7 sixes and 2 fours) and Suryakumar Yadav (70 off 46 balls, with 4 sixes and 7 fours). Despite losing opener Prithvi Shaw early, Mumbai’s innings was boosted by a crucial 66-run partnership between Ajinkya Rahane (22) and Shreyas Iyer (20) before Dube and Yadav steered the team to a strong total. Yadav’s innings ended at 190 after hitting Vishal Gaur’s ball in the 19.2 over.

In response, Services were bowled out for 153 in 19.3 overs. While captain Mohit Ahlawat scored a half-century (54 off 40 balls), he couldn’t prevent the defeat. Vikas Hathwala (22) and Mohit Rathee (20) offered some support, but Mumbai’s bowling attack, spearheaded by Shardul Thakur (4 wickets) and Shams Mulani (3 wickets), proved too strong.

With four wins from five matches, Mumbai currently sits third in Group E, behind Andhra Pradesh and Kerala. Their only defeat so far came against Kerala.
