**NEW DELHI** – Budget airline IndiGo has vehemently rejected its placement near the bottom of AirHelp’s 2024 airline ranking, which placed it 103rd out of 109 airlines. The report, released this week, cited factors such as on-time performance, customer complaints, and overall passenger experience. Brussels Airlines, Qatar Airways, and United Airlines topped the list.
IndiGo countered the findings, citing its own consistently high punctuality rates and low customer complaint ratio as reported by India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). The airline questioned the methodology and data sample size used by AirHelp, an EU-based claims processing agency, particularly regarding its data collection from India. IndiGo highlighted its dominant market share in India, carrying over 72.5 million passengers (61.3% market share) between January and September. The airline operates a fleet of over 380 aircraft, conducting approximately 2,100 daily flights to over 85 domestic and 30 international destinations.
AirHelp’s report, covering January to October, considered global customer claims, on-time performance, and traveller feedback across 54 countries, evaluating aspects like food, seating, and crew service. While Air India and AirAsia also featured in the report (at 61st and 94th respectively), IndiGo maintains that its performance significantly surpasses the ranking provided. The airline reaffirmed its commitment to providing affordable and efficient travel.
