**Villupuram, Tamil Nadu – December 4, 2024** – Sixty mobile medical units (MMUs) were launched today in Villupuram district to provide immediate healthcare to residents affected by Cyclone Fengal’s heavy rainfall. The initiative, flagged off by Forest Minister K. Ponmudy and attended by Transport Minister S.S. Sivasankar, aims to address the health concerns arising from the cyclone’s aftermath.

Each MMU is equipped with a doctor, a staff nurse, and a sanitary inspector. These units will cover 146 affected areas across the district, offering medical assistance for various ailments including fever, respiratory infections, diarrhea, and injuries sustained due to the flooding. The MMUs will also conduct screenings for diabetes and hypertension, referring patients needing further treatment to government hospitals. The units will operate through both scheduled visits and on-demand camps as needed.
