Tue Dec 03 15:51:13 UTC 2024: ## Karnataka to Revive Lake Users’ Associations to Boost Waterbody Conservation
**Bengaluru, December 3, 2024** – The Karnataka government is set to revive lake users’ associations (LUAs) to improve the conservation of the state’s nearly 40,000 waterbodies. Minister for Minor Irrigation and Science and Technology, N.S. Boseraju, announced the initiative following a meeting with officials on Monday.
The revival of LUAs, first proposed in the state budget, will require the drafting of detailed proposals. A high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and involving the Karnataka Lake Conservation and Development Authority will finalize the plan.
Minister Boseraju stressed the importance of interdepartmental collaboration to overcome conservation challenges. He also highlighted the need to explore revenue generation through activities such as fishing, floating solar installations, and boating to support long-term waterbody management.
